"The album seamlessly blends Lansberg’s original compositions, with three timeless standards, including Stephen Sondheim’s 'I Remember Sky,' Thelonious Monk’s ‘Round Midnight,' and Leonard Bernstein’s 'Some Other Time.'"
Australian jazz singer-songwriter Connie Lansberg has released her latest self-produced album Alone With Bees.
Boasting an impressive 4.5 million streams on Spotify, Lansberg has solidified her position as Australia’s most streamed jazz artist, captivating audiences with her expressive voice, storytelling prowess, and ground-breaking approach to the genre.
“Alone With Bees” is a 10-track jazz album that features seven original songs, written, arranged, produced, and performed by Lansberg. The album also showcases the exceptional talent of her longstanding quartet, including the accomplished jazz pianist Mark Fitzgibbon, double bassist Ben Hanlon, and drummer Peter Hodges.
The album seamlessly blends Lansberg’s original compositions, with three timeless standards, including Stephen Sondheim’s “I Remember Sky,” Thelonious Monk’s ‘Round Midnight’”, and Leonard Bernstein’s “Some Other Time.” The quartet’s passion and drive for the jazz genre shines through, with standout solos by Ben Hanlon and piano work reminiscent of jazz legends McCoy Tyner and Herbie Hancock by Mark Fitzgibbon.
The title track “Alone With Bees” not only shares its name with the album but also comes with a compelling short story available for free download. This poignant single, exploring the transformation of past pain into a newfound peace, earned Lansberg the Best Song award at Hollywood’s Artemis Women in Film Festival.
Other standout tracks include “Deep End of Love,” which delves into the theme of moving on from heartbreak fearlessly, and the soft ballad “Free,” the album’s first single which narrates the journey of overcoming forgotten traumas of the past.
Connie Lansberg’s creative process is uniquely enriched by her exploration of Soul Re-Alignment and the Akashic Records, allowing her to release trauma and stagnant energy on a soul level. This spiritual influence adds depth and authenticity to her work and her favorite saying is "You do not have to re-live trauma to release it."
Beyond her musical accomplishments, Lansberg is also a published author. Fans can explore her booklet of 10 short stories, each inspired by the album’s songs, featuring original artwork by Francesca Baerald.
For an outstanding jazz experience, Alone With Bees is a highly recommended listen for both existing and new fans
